My most recent legend from the land is an experience of collaboration.

Seven people gathered there to explore their Spaceholder skills, and I was sharing meals with them. During the first lunch, things were a bit clumsy, and people were bumping into each other.

By the second lunch, I could see a shift happening.

I could see how they were synchronizing and collaborating. They would ask for the food they wanted to be passed to them, and this asking became like a song. Each person was sensitive enough to know when to ask in a way that created connection rather than disturbance.

Hands moved around the table, passing food in a kind of dance. It was a pleasure to be part of that dance.

for 7 weeks a few Men lived at Ahi o te Manawa and researched how it goes for Men to live together in a way that was intimate with the land and each other (and for clarity it had nothing to do with sexuality); it was about connecting with our hearts and creating intimacy & curiosity of how it goes to be in the moment to moment of life with our conscious feelings and heart felt connections.

I came all the way from Canada and landed on this land for a project called “Gaian Mens Bridge House” with my personal quest to be more turned on and on fire in my own life, and to explore Being with, collaboration and vulnerability amongst other men, and reconnection with nature.

How to be more fulfilled and nourished is what I learned and experienced here.

I feel joy thinking back of the many intimate sharings of my feelings with my fellow brothers there, breaking the scarcity of being vulnerable with other men.

The land itself is beautifully raw. From the third day on of this 6 weeks endeavour I slept outside (starting in a tent, and later on in a self-built survival shelter in the woods).

I experienced many magical and weird (in a positive way) moments, from healing an almost dying dog, walking backwards off a mountain, inventing a medicinal and delicious icecream from kawakawa. Forever grateful for this experience.

Being on the land feels like magic. Surrounded by native forest, I experience a sense of protection, while the views over the lake offered me a space to dream.

I love sitting on the porch in the mornings with a cup of coffee, looking out over the landscape while sorting through my feelings and becoming centered. It is a delicious way to begin the day.

My time at Ahi o te Manawa has been connected with transformation and collaboration.

It was a perfect place for such an experiment, with other men living there alongside me.

Togethering

for 1 week a group of Men came together to be with each other. These Men have been together over a 2 year period in some major transformational spaces including 2 “Labs for Men” - 5 day intense workshops based in Possibility Management where we looked deeply into Patriarchy and how we as Men are showing up in the world and how we want to show up - discovering the void that is the difference between these two places.

in the second Lab we started with a question from Woman.........“Where are the Men?”

this week was a different space where we really got to enjoy being with each other with our feelings, hearts and the abundance of life.

One of the Men Tristan Girdwood wrote this article about it.

Ahi o te Manawa
A place to rest your soul
Companions you will find here
For a path without a goal

A Man named Jay
In Taupo Bay
is known both far and wide.

He offers here
his heart and hearth
and takes in Love his pride.

I stayed a day, I stayed a week,
it tore my heart to leave.
Yet in this place, and with this Man,
I was in safe hands to grieve.

If ever you get called to
Sacredness and Kawa
I urge you to go visit
Ahi o te Manawa.
